Austin, Texas has been called many things. Waterloo, The Violet Crown, Bat City – The Velvet Rut.
Coined in the 1970’s when musicians flocked to Austin in search of fortune and fame – for many that dream was never realized.
They found themselves in a wonderful city with a laid-back attitude, hippie culture, green spaces, and a river running through. For many they enjoyed the Austin lifestyle – but as years went by their big stage ambition faded away, and when their careers ended, and the bands broke up, many came to realize they were living in none other than – The Velvet Rut.
